DREAM WEDDING IN ROME
Discover all the details
Some love stories unfold slowly, across thousands of miles, until one day they choose a single place to come together and become forever.
Matthew and Alexandra’s story is one of them. A love born in Australia, shaped with patience, lightness and depth. A love that chose to celebrate its most meaningful chapter in one of the most captivating and timeless places in the world: Rome, the Eternal City.
Their wedding was never meant to be a conventional celebration. It was an intimate, deeply personal experience, filled with the quiet intensity of two people who know exactly what matters to them. Surrounded by a small circle of family and close friends, they chose Italy not only for its beauty, but for everything it represents: art, emotion, togetherness and memory.
With its golden light and streets steeped in history and poetry, Rome became the perfect backdrop for their most unforgettable day. Yet the true heart of their celebration was Villa Elena, an enchanting venue where elegance meets nature and every corner seems to belong to a storybook.
The day began with the preparations: genuine laughter, effortless moments between friends, and thoughtful details chosen with care. In the room where Alexandra was getting ready, there was a beautiful sense of anticipation — a quiet atmosphere broken only by meaningful glances, trembling hands, whispered words and held breaths.
Elsewhere, Matthew tried to keep his nerves in check with the help of his closest friends. They joked, embraced and shared light-hearted moments, but beneath it all was an unmistakable sense of emotion and expectation.
The civil ceremony took place in one of the villa’s gardens, an intimate setting framed by manicured hedges and centuries-old trees. Guests took their seats among soft conversations and warm smiles before Matthew arrived, surrounded by his friends.
When it was time for Alexandra to make her entrance, Matthew turned away.
A simple gesture, yet one filled with meaning. He wanted to experience that first look with her without distractions — a pure, unfiltered moment belonging only to the two of them.
And when Alexandra appeared, graceful and elegant, surrounded by flowers and the warm glow of sunset, something in the air seemed to shift. It was as if the world had suddenly become quieter, more intimate, more real.
Their eyes found each other, and from that moment on, everything fell into place.
Their vows unfolded like a golden thread — sincere, gentle and deeply felt. No words beyond what was needed, and not a single one missing.
Right after the ceremony, we made the most of the warm evening light for their couple portraits. Not a staged photoshoot, but a quiet moment away from everyone else — a chance for them to simply be together, alone, finally husband and wife.
As they walked through the villa’s pathways, hand in hand, they seemed to say with their eyes everything words had not yet expressed. Every frame captured during those minutes reveals the depth of their connection: two souls choosing one another without spectacle, but with a quiet, disarming strength.
Dinner became a natural continuation of that magic: an intimate table beneath a star-filled sky, surrounded by warm lights, heartfelt smiles and the people they loved most.
One by one, the guests stood to speak. There were no formal speeches or empty words — each person spoke from the heart. Tears gave way to laughter, childhood memories blended with dreams for the future, and in that moment, Rome was no longer simply a city.
It had become home.
And when it was time for the cake, the atmosphere shifted once again.
The lights came on, the music filled the air, and the celebration truly began. A DJ set, dancing, an open bar, and pure energy. An explosion of joy that brought the day to a close in the most spontaneous and authentic way possible.
Photographing Matthew and Alexandra’s wedding was about far more than documenting an event. It meant accompanying two people through one of the most meaningful journeys of their lives, while trying to preserve everything that makes each love story unique: the truth found in the smallest details, the imperfect moments that move us, and the glances that speak without ever needing words.
Every story I tell is different. This one, to me, felt like the meeting of two souls in a place that seemed almost designed to welcome them. Rome was their setting. But love… love was everything else.
