Maternity photoshoot
Freezing time,
preserving an emotion
Pregnancy is one of the most intense and meaningful moments in a couple’s life. A maternity photo shoot is designed precisely for this purpose: to freeze time and preserve forever the magic of a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Each session is designed to capture not only the joy of expecting a baby, but also the couple’s love and bond. Future dads are often present too, and, when they’re there, so are little brothers or sisters: it’s an opportunity to celebrate the family at a time of profound change.
How does a maternity photo shoot work?
I prefer to tailor each session to suit the person in front of me. If you already have an idea in mind, we can choose the location together: the photography studio or an outdoor spot that reflects who you are. Weather and season permitting, I always recommend outdoor sessions: natural light is a key element of my style and allows me to best express my creativity and sensitivity.
The maternity photo shoot can take place:
● In the studio, for an elegant setting with attention to every detail;
● Outdoors, to make the most of natural light and give free rein to my creativity;
● At home, for an intimate and personal atmosphere.
Whenever the weather permits, I always recommend holding the shoot outdoors, making the most of natural light, which is a key element of my photographic style.
The couple can choose the location, especially if there’s a place that’s dear to them that they’d like to include in their memories. The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is between the 28th and 34th weeks, when the baby bump is clearly visible but the mum-to-be is still agile and at ease in front of the camera.
The photos will then be carefully edited, and when you view them in the studio, I like to advise the couple on printing the photographs too, because that’s where the value of the memory really comes to life.
More than just a photoshoot
After a photo shoot, a special bond develops between me and my clients; in fact, once the photos have been edited, when we meet in my studio to view them, I always take the liberty of recommending the best format to show each shot to its best advantage and to produce a printed copy. I firmly believe that photographs should be printed: leafing through an album or a photo book allows you to relive those emotions – to relive authentic emotions – whilst immersing yourself in the moments that marked the beginning of a new life. Digital images are precious, but printing makes every memory eternal and tangible.
